Role Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Community and Events to lead our Apart Sprints and Campus initiatives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Host impactful hackathons that tackle key pragmatic AI safety and security problems
  • Partner with world-class organizations and individuals to create events that drive innovation and attract top talent
  • Foster a flourishing community of professionals transitioning into AI safety research
  • Innovate and implement technology to enhance network experiences
  • Take ownership of all aspects of our campus, ensuring a supportive and nurturing environment for researchers and practitioners

You are a great fit for this if

  • You possess strong marketing and outreach skills, with the ability to develop and execute targeted campaigns to attract top talent
  • You have proven experience in community building, event planning, and project management in the tech or academic sectors
  • You have an understanding of the motivations in AI safety research and are excited about the latest progress in the field
  • You have excellent communication ability and can build strong relationships with partners, sponsors, and key influencers in the AI/ML community
  • You are data-driven and proficient in using data to inform decision-making and strategy
  • You are highly adaptable, solutions-oriented, and comfortable with taking ownership in a fast-paced environment
  • You have experience working in a remote, digital-first organization and can effectively collaborate with a decentralized team

Valued Extras

  • Quick to dive into new topics with a strong drive to learn
  • Experience with academic ML research and a solid understanding of one of our focus areas: Model evaluation, interpretability, cybersecurity, or multi-agent security
  • AI research engineering experience or experience with specific ML frameworks

What is the time commitment?

We are open to a range of options, from part-time to full-time. You will have considerable discretion over when you do your work, but we expect you to adapt to the needs of our global community and research initiatives.

What experience levels are you considering?

We are open to all experience levels, as long as the requirements above are satisfied. However, we expect candidates to have a strong research background and a deep understanding of AI safety. In case of doubt, please apply!

When should I apply?

What does the process look like?

After initial screening of your application, we will schedule a brief first interview to understand your motivation for the role and your research background. Next, we will ask you to complete a short work test. Finally, we will invite you to a longer interview with several team members to discuss your experience and vision for the role in more detail.

What is the compensation?

We will adapt compensation to your experience level and location. As an early-stage non-profit, we expect the pay to be from $52,000 to $72,800 per year.
